Frequently Asked Questions

  • Deep Light Therapy is located in the heart of Carpinteria, a wonderful seaside town near the Montecito, Santa Barbara, and Ojai communities. The office is on the main street to the beach (Linden Ave) with easy access to the 101. Located inside the historic home of California’s first branch library it features thick walls, original wood flooring, high ceilings, and a view of the Santa Ynez mountains. Free parking is available in lots beside the building and behind it, as well as on the street out front. And a bonus for those who visit on Thursday afternoons - you can walk right out into the local Farmer’s Market beginning at 3 pm.

  • I work with adult individuals of all ages. Country and family of origin, gender, sexual identity, culture, religion, ethnicity, neurobiological diversity, body type - all are welcome. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California (#17570), I can work with any resident in this state.

I also love helping therapists and other practitioners in the healing arts.

  • Lovingly, reverently, and with the faith that you’re ready to address it. I primarily use EMDR, both traditional and somatic forms, as well as Sand Tray therapy to help you heal. We pace the work by paying close attention and knowing when to lean in, and when to step back.

  • While most people would benefit from some attention given to both their psychological and spiritual lives, this work is not a best fit for all ailments. For those struggling with untreated OCD, Personality and Eating Disorders, or Substance / Alcohol Abuse, seeing a specialist in those fields first would be the most skillful approach. For individuals in recovery it is recommended you have 1-2 years of continuous sobriety achieved before beginning this type of therapy, due to the deep nature of trauma work.
